Skaven Blog, part 16 - Rat Ogres

I have been painting like crazy, but with a lot of fun, this last week. For a game I'm aout to play this weekend, I wanted to have my Rat Ogres finished.

Taking from what I learned from the painting class I did with Peter Zuidgeest a while back, I started the base skin tone with airbrush. Damn, that must have shaved off a couple of hours of work! after an hour or so of working with glazes after that, the skin was perfect for the next step, and I was actually relieved to see how little time it took to get this far already.

All WIP shots

This spurred me on to paint each day, even if only for an hour or so, and even while I was very ill from a cold. But it went even faster than I thought, finishing a part, like warpstone, or metals, or whatever, each day.

Until I managed to be done by yesterday. Well, not exaftly done, as I stil have to add the water effects - which are, like it or not, still gonna take some time. But for play, this is already enough!

Glad to see a unit of these big dudes done so fast, and still meet to my standard of good tabletop quality! I love em!

Nephilim project - part 1

Saw that teaser at the end in my previous post? Yeah, that was a pilot of a Space Marine vehicle. But what vehicle?

Close inspecition shows the Ravenwing icon on the shoulderpad. Yes, I am about to embark on a big project revolving around a Dark Angels Nephilim.

At first dry assembly, it dawned to me that the cockpit had to be the first thing to paint, before final assembly. And even after that, I still have to do a lot of converting before I can start painting the hull. So that was first on the agenda.

By now, that part is done, and what a bummer: after another dry-fit I noticed that most of the paintwork will hardly be seen through the canopy. Wasted effort there...:(

Anyway, it is now fully assembled and ready to be cut up for the next stage of the project...

This may very well be the first project I take on of this magnitude, so my goal is to at least finish it, and hopefully do so within a couple of month at the most.

Painting for fun: Brahyn

GODS! I have been in love with this model ever since I first saw it. There is something about red haired, pale faced freckled chicks with big sword...

I know it has been a long while since I posted. I could have done a couple of WIP updates here and there. But I just wanted to paint. I really have found a lot of painting mojo these days, and I don't want to waste it.
After the Kitty model I quickly started on Freebooter's Brahyn. I had already envisioned her in a Scottish tartan, on top of a highland hill, her red hair and pale flesh a stark contrast amids the earthen browns and greens around her.

What a blast this has been. Just enjoy the WIPS and the final pics below.
(Oh, and make sure to check out the teaser on my next (BIG!) project all the way at the end...)

AND THE FINAL PICS:
